Saving their lives, we transform our own.
At Garras y Patas, we work towards transforming our community to achieve a sustainable city in terms of responsible pet ownership. Real change will only happen if society unites to achieve it—individuals, businesses, and the public sector alike. Therefore, we develop activities aimed at informing and shifting public mindset, addressing animal abandonment as a comprehensive social issue, and driving structural solutions based on education in responsible pet ownership, corporate support, and demanding relevant legislation backed by the budget necessary for its effective implementation. Always committed to building a more conscious, empathetic, and sustainable society.
We work to achieve a sustainable city by addressing animal abandonment as a holistic social issue, encouraging individuals, corporations, and the public sector to pursue zero abandonment alongside us.
Our work is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), contributing directly to: SDG #11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, by promoting safe and integrated urban environments; SDG #3: Good Health and Well-being, by mitigating health risks associated with the overpopulation of abandoned pets; SDG #17: Partnerships for the Goals, by fostering collaboration among civil society, corporations, and the state; SDG #15: Life on Land, by mitigating the impact on local ecosystem flora and fauna.

STORY
When the Moreno Orellana sisters were 4 and 5 years old, their parents came home with a puppy from the street, it was their first rescue as a family. Twenty years and more than three hundred rescues later, they decided to create a foundation to make the dream of giving the abandoned a second chance come true. This is how Garras y Patas was born in 2012, adding people committed to the idea, working hard and with passion, innovating and involving the community in solving the problem, always achieving more happy endings for those rescued.

Catalina Moreno, founder and president of the Garras y Patas Foundation, in 2016 was selected as a scholarship recipient in the program organized by President Barack Obama, Young Leaders of America (YLAI).
YOUNG LEADERS 2017
Catalina Moreno, founder of Garras y Patas, in 2017 was chosen from the list of Young Leaders of Chile. Since the year 2000, this initiative brings together, supports and projects the work of people who have excelled in various fields, causing changes in their environment and making a difference to make Chile a better country.
