EVERY DOG IS FOR AN APARTMENT

Big or small, many furry friends feel comfortable living in apartments or smaller spaces.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR HAVING A DOG IN AN APARTMENT:
Choose to Adopt a Big Dog
  • Dogs spend most of the day sleeping:
Dogs need between 12 and 14 hours of sleep a day, so living in an apartment or a small space doesn't mean a dog will suffer; they'll sleep while you get home from work. Additionally, dogs are very adaptable animals and can adjust their activity to their environment. What they need most is love from their humans and walks.

  • Consistent exercise:
At a minimum, dogs should get some exercise twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. For some dogs, a gentle walk is enough, while others may need a jog or run.

  • Create a corner for your pet:
Dogs find it easier to relax and rest if they have their own space, so create their own little haven in a corner of your apartment. This is where you should put their bed, some toys, and their food. This will be a place where they can retreat when they need a break and where you can leave them confined when they're alone.

  • Create a routine:
Try to take your puppy for a walk at the same time each morning and evening, so he knows when to expect it. Feed him at the same time every day, and do the same for playtime.
