OUR HISTORY

ABOUT US

Garras y Patas was born from the dream of giving a second chance to thousands of dogs and cats who suffer abandonment, hunger, and disease on the streets of our city. It was born from the union of people with a tremendous desire to build the country we want to live in. Our goal is to carry out activities that benefit the community and produce changes in people's mindsets, so that everyone can join in solving the serious problem of abandoned pet overpopulation, which affects both animals and people. By involving the community—individuals and businesses—we offer them various concrete and easy ways and opportunities to cooperate, such as becoming a member, volunteer, or foster home, among others. In this way, we achieve higher goals in rescues and rehoming. At Garras y Patas, we work hard and with great passion because we are saving lives.

MISSION & VISION

Mission: To contribute to solving the problem of abandoned pet overpopulation.

Vision: To achieve a more sustainable city by implementing ethical, self-funded, and collaborative solutions to the problem.

HISTORY

When the Moreno Orellana sisters were 4 and 5 years old, their parents brought home a stray puppy. It was their first rescue as a family. Twenty years and more than 300 rescues later, they decided to create a non-profit organization to make their dream a reality: a second chance for abandoned pets. Thus, in 2012, Garras y Patas was born, bringing together people committed to the idea, working hard and with passion, innovating and involving the community, always achieving happier endings for the rescued pets.
